Nvidia has announced the R100 architecture, the successor to its wildly successful Blackwell line. While previous GPUs were optimized for training massive singular models, the R100 is engineered specifically for the age of “Agentic Swarms.”
Hardware for Multi-Agent Collaboration
As AI workflows shift from single-prompt queries to massive teams of specialized AI agents working together, traditional network latency between GPUs has become a bottleneck. The R100 introduces the “SwarmLink” interconnect, allowing thousands of distinct agentic instances to share memory and intermediate reasoning steps almost instantaneously.
Bypassing the CPU
Crucially, the R100 bypasses traditional CPU routing entirely for agent-to-agent communication. This allows a coding agent, a testing agent, and a security agent to iteratively collaborate on a codebase thousands of times a second without hitting traditional hardware walls. This silicon represents the infrastructure layer for the next wave of autonomous digital labor.
